Loyola Jesuit Center was founded on an act of generosity.  In 1927, Welcome Bender purchased the Foote estate in Morristown and donated the house and property to the Jesuits. Loyola continues to rely on the generosity of its donors, benefactors and friends to keep its mission going.  To view our latest Annual Report, please click here to see how your generosity is being utilized.

The Many Ways to Help Loyola Jesuit Center

There are a number of ways–large and small–that will allow you to support the mission of Loyola Jesuit Center and its ministry. While outright gifts are most immediately helpful to Loyola, donors may make a contribution in a variety of ways. Many of these offer substantial tax, estate planning, and other financial benefits. As a result, donors may enhance financial security for themselves and their families, while also making a substantial commitment to strengthening the future of Loyola. The following lists some of the various ways you may be able to contribute.  Loyola is a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 corporation.

Cash Gifts

If you itemize on your tax returns, your gift to Loyola will allow you to receive a full charitable income tax deduction.

Matching Gifts

If your employer will match your gifts and you complete the necessary forms, you will benefit Loyola Jesuit Center and those it serves two-fold. Contact your personnel office for details or call the Loyola Development Office at 973-539-0740 for more assistance.

Remember Loyola in Your Will

As you provide for your loved ones in your will, you may also wish to leave an additional amount for your charitable interests. You may name a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or “what’s left” (the remainder or residual). Because bequests are exempt from federal and state inheritance taxes, and subject to an unlimited deduction, you may find that a commitment through your will – combined with an outright pledge – may allow you to contribute more significantly to Loyola Jesuit Center than you thought possible.

Honoring the Deceased with a Memorial Donation

In lieu of funeral flowers, family members may suggest memorial contributions be sent to Loyola Jesuit Center to honor the deceased.

WhatToExpectPageSpecial Projects

Outside of financial contributions, there are many special projects that benefit Loyola. Our “Adopt-A-Bench” project is currently underway. To date, more than forty benches have been adopted and placed around the beautiful gardens and grounds of Loyola. Benches may be endowed for $1,200 per bench. A bench is a wonderful way to memorialize or honor a loved one. Please contact Loyola at 973-539-0740 if you would like to “Adopt-A-Bench.”

Scholarship Fund

When you donate to this fund you are enabling those who cannot afford a retreat to come and experience the benefits of time away in this sacred space.  Your donation also helps cover the cost of retreats for those combating homelessness and addiction and those in recovery.

Donate Your Time and Talent: Volunteer

Do you have a God-given talent that we can use here at Loyola?  There are many ways to donate your time and talents.  Perhaps you have a gift of gardening and can volunteer to assist in keeping the grounds beautiful and enhancing the beauty that exists.  Maybe you have a creative side and you are part of your parish’s quilting ministry. Loyola gladly receives donations of blankets, prayer shawls and neck warmers which are distributed to homeless men and women who come on special retreats designed just for them.  If you have a talent to share and would like to volunteer click here to fill out our on-line volunteer form.

Loyola welcomes gifts-in-kind of goods and services.  Do you own a business and are able to donate products and services at cost?  If your company’s philanthropy budget is tight, in-kind gifts may offer a more accessible giving pathway.  For example, as we renovate the mansion we would welcome the donation of construction or painting services and supplies and our beautiful gardens and grounds could always benefit from landscaping services and snowplowing, to name a few.  Are you part of a group or organization that likes to do charitable projects?  Loyola receives donations from parish quilting ministries of prayer shawls, blankets and neck warmers which are given out during our retreats for those combating homelessness, addiction and those in recovery.  Your gift to us becomes our gift to them.

Prayer Intercession Ministry

Giving of your time in prayer is another way to help Loyola and its mission.  We have a faithful group of men and women whose ongoing prayers help Loyola and Loyola’s family of retreatants and benefactors.  To learn more about the prayer intercession ministry click here.
